Unbelievable how many people were on the streets at this time of day. The tempting smell of grilled food hit La Mare's nose, causing her stomach to growl audibly. She hadn't eaten in days, and the uncomfortable pain in her stomach area only made it more clear that she should start looking for something to eat. It wasn't that she would actually have to eat to survive, but it would be a lot more pleasant. The line at the takeaway spoke for itself. It was late afternoon, people were coming in from work and were first enjoying a hot meal on their way home. La Mare had to avert her eyes, her mouth watering. What would she give for a piece of bread, but she didn't really want to steal either. In the last few years, she had already let something be stolen out of necessity a few times, but that didn't make it any easier for her. In addition, she was tired and exhausted from traveling around all the time. In the meantime, La Mare was already nine years old and had not received even a tiny hint as to where she could find her cousin…
